Getting started

Installation

The dashboard

Nothing to install. Create an account and an organization at app.ahena.io. In the dashboard you can create projects and environments, connect providers, run Doctor, read the Stack Graph, review and approve plans, and see the activity log.

The CLI

The command-line tool is the npm package @ahena/cli; the command is ahena. It's in beta: commands, ahena.config.ts and the MCP tools may still change between betas.

npm install -g @ahena/cli # then: ahena --version
npx @ahena/cli --version # or run it without installing

Only install it from the @ahena scope. npm doesn't allow the bare name ahena, and only Ahena can publish in @ahena, so any other package claiming to be the Ahena CLI isn't.

Requirements: Node.js 22.18 or newer (ahena.config.ts is loaded with Node's type stripping).

ahena login # opens the browser; approve the sign-in there
ahena whoami # the signed-in user and organizations

ahena login uses a device code: the CLI shows a code, you confirm the same code in the browser, and the CLI never sees your password. The session is stored in a file only you can read (0600), and the CLI refuses a group- or world-readable credentials file. ahena logout revokes this machine's session.

The CLI talks to https://api.ahena.io by default. --api-url or AHENA_API_URL points it at another Ahena API, and it refuses plain http:// except to your own machine. In CI, set AHENA_TOKEN to a CI token instead of signing in (see CI/CD).
